Firm Biography

Thomas A. Williams is the principal attorney in the firm.  He has practiced U.S. Immigration and Naturalization law for over 20 years, concentrating on the Employment Based classifications, including professional and international business visas.

The firm has represented professionals, including those holding degrees in information technology, various fields of engineering, medicine & biomedical research, pharmaceutics, international business; as well as post-doctoral researchers and professionals in other disciplines of study. Our clientele includes those from Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Russia and South & North America. Mr. Williams is a graduate of the University of Virginia College of Arts and Sciences, and of the University of Richmond Law School. He has been practicing law and has been a member of the Virginia Bar since 1980.

For more than 20 years Mr. Williams has handled U.S. Immigration & Naturalization cases, with a concentration on Professional Visas (H-1B, Specialty Occupations), Multinational Executives or Managers & Intra-company Transferees (L-1); Aliens of Extraordinary Ability; Outstanding Professors and Researchers; National Interest Waiver petitioners (Post-graduates); and Labor Certification/PERM applicants (Bachelors, Masters & Ph.D. degree holders and Skilled Workers).

Mr. Williams has given seminars on U.S. Immigration Law to post-doctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, and faculty at such highly respected institutions as Johns Hopkins University, The Medical College of Virginia (VCU), University of Virginia, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Duke, University of Maryland, George Washington University, Ohio State, George Mason University, and others.

PATENTS:
Mr. Williams has had patents issued in 20 countries. He holds 3 U.S. Patents on mechanical transmissions and has been involved with international manufacturing in P.R. China and Hungary and has marketed nationally on U.S. television.

PUBLICATIONS:
“A Survey of Judges’ Responses to Simulated Legal Cases: Research Note on Sentencing Disparity” William Austin & Thomas Williams. The Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology, 68:2 pp. 306-310 June, 1977. This study was conceived, designed and carried out by Mr. Williams while an undergraduate student at the University of Virginia based on previous independent research with the distinguished Constitutional Law professor, A. E. “Dick” Howard, University of Virginia Law School.
